This Sunday, we continue our topical series on the scripture: Proverbs 13:12 “Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.” This “Hope Deferred” series helps us with Biblical guidance when our hopes, dreams, plans, become deferred, that is delayed for a period of time, or even forever. This week, we will talk about “Hope Deferred with In-Laws.” Our text this week is Exodus 18:13-24. In this passage, Moses is given instruction by his father-in-law, Jethro; that is good advice and well received by Moses. But then we can look at passages like Genesis 26:34-35 and 27:46 where we are told about very difficult in law relationships. We often can have hope deferred in families and in law relationships which can also include grandmas and grandpas. In this message we will talk about hope deferred with in laws and give some practical helps as you relate to your parents and/or grown children.
Our scripture reading this Sunday is Proverbs 15:20-29, a passage that talks a little about parents, but also about wise counsel and speech, wisdom and wise living. All this can help us in this life with relationships and our families, including extended families. So that we can learn how best to get along and have lives that will be honoring to the Lord. More on all this Sunday morning at 9:30 am.
See you Sunday,
Pastor Weaver
