This Sunday, we continue our series in the book of 1st Samuel looking now at chapter 16 verses 1-19. We now see David introduced as the youngest of Jesse’s sons, and certainly not one you’d you expect to be anointed king! But we remember that David (called by God), is a man after God’s own heart. Saul has been rejected as king of Israel, and now God urges Samuel to move on (v.1). Here in this text, the focus now changes to David and what happens to him as he is privately anointed king to replace Saul. What is going on in David’s mind during this serious, unexpected, occasion? God is leading in this young man’s life, and to his surprise…he gets anointed king! And, by the way, what is he supposed to do now?? This Sunday morning, I want us to see that God is at work in every true believer’s heart. At work in our lives even though we don’t see and most times do not even understand. Isn’t that why He keeps us on this earth? As we are really citizens of heaven? David’s example shows us what we are to be, and what we are to do, especially when we are confused as to what God is ultimately doing. In our scripture reading, Philippians 2:12-18, we see how God works in the believer’s life, for His glory. We get surprises when we see God work – just like God did with David! How about you? What is God teaching you as a believer? Isn’t God teaching you, training you, leading you for His glory even though you don’t know how or where, or even understand? More on all this Sunday morning!
See you Sunday,
Pastor Weaver
