The Tragedy of Unbelief

Our text this Sunday morning is Exodus 11-12:1-13.  With celebrating the Lord’s Supper this morning, I wanted to work through a passage that pictures the substitutionary death of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  At the end of the plagues on Pharaoh and the Egyptians, there is one more plague which brings death on them (death angel).  While most of the plagues up to this point did not cause much death; this 10th plague would bring sure death to the firstborn in each family.  It would also be an important teaching time as to sure judgment on those who reject God (as Pharaoh hardened his heart over and over), but would also show the Israelites the grace of God and the substitution (Passover lamb/Jesus death on the cross) for the penalty of sin. The tragedy of unbelief, when the substitute made it possible to escape the wrath to come. Have you accepted the payment for your sins that Jesus did for you on the cross?  Are you now living for Him?

We’ll talk more about this Sunday morning…

See you Sunday,

Pastor Weaver
