This Sunday, we continue again our topical series on the scripture: Proverbs 13:12 “Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.” This “Hope Deferred” series helps us with Biblical guidance when our hopes, dreams, plans, become deferred, that is delayed for a period of time, or even forever. This week, we will talk about “Hope Deferred in Witnessing.” Our text this week is Matthew 19:16-26. In this passage Jesus tells the young man who asks about how he may inherit eternal life that he must humble himself, sell all that he has, and follow Jesus. With the result of the rich man going away sorrowful. Numerous examples are given throughout scripture of how people were confronted with the truth of scripture (God’s grace and offer of eternal life), and God, but refused it. Isn’t that a hope delayed that we often have today? Our desire to see people saved and follow the Lord, and yet they are refusing to accept God’s free gift of eternal life. In this message I want to look at 3 responsibilities that are involved in a soul getting saved and coming to the truth of the Word of God. This will help us understand our part and God’s part as well as a lost soul’s part so that we know all is being done to bring that lost friend, family member, acquaintance; to help them come to faith.
Our scripture reading this Sunday is from Isaiah 5:1-7. This passage is God speaking to Israel and Judah and asking what more could He do to get them to follow Him. Fitting to help people today realize their responsibility to respond to the Savior. More on all this Sunday morning at 9:30 am.
See you Sunday,
Pastor Weaver
