Hope Deferred in Marriage (Part 1)

This Sunday, we continue our new topical series on the scripture: Proverbs 13:12 “Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.”  This “Hope Deferred” series will help us with Biblical guidance when our hopes, dreams, plans, become deferred, that is delayed for a period of time, or even forever.  This week, we will do the first part of “Hope Deferred in Marriage.”  What happens when needs are not being met, fulfilled in marriage?  Why is it that many times people feel this hope deferred in their marriage?  People say something like: “marriage was not, or has not become what I thought it would, should be.”  How does that happen?  How do we get to that point?  This Sunday and next we’ll talk about one major way hope gets lost in marriage, because needs are not being met.  We will talk about the Biblical needs of wives this Sunday, and the Biblical needs of husbands next week.  We all know how to meet our own needs, but we have to put effort into meeting the needs of others.

Our scripture reading for this Sunday is Proverbs 2:1-9. A reminder of the wisdom we need for life; especially in areas of our lives which can be very complicated at times.  We need to look to God for wisdom in our lives. This Sunday, we will talk about the 5 needs of wives in marriage that husbands should be meeting, so that there is no hope deferred or delayed hope.  More on all this then.

See you Sunday,

Pastor Weaver
