Do Right!

This Sunday, we continue our series in 1st Samuel, looking at chapter 18, verses 17-30.  Here we have the king named Saul who is actively, but sneakily trying to have his successor, David (the Lord’s anointed) killed.  He tries to keep his word of promise to give his daughter in marriage to whoever kills Goliath; while also trying to entrap David, his future son-in-law.  But David does something extremely powerful in this text.  Something all of us can do every day which will always make us successful in God’s eyes.  The simple lesson for us that David did, even though not convenient, (vs.14, 30) was that “he behaved himself wisely” as the KJV translates it and also makes interpretation from the original Hebrew.  We need to understand the importance of doing right, and how to know what is the right every day from scripture.

In our scripture reading, Deuteronomy 6:5-18, Moses writes about obedience, doing right and keeping God’s commands to the children of Israel as to what God will do for them (blessings) in the land He would be giving them.  How will we be successful in this life and always on the right path of our God? DO RIGHT!  More on all this Sunday morning.

See you Sunday,

Pastor Weaver
