Are You Learning?

This Sunday we are continuing our series preaching through the book of 1 Samuel.  This week we are in chapter 26.  In this chapter we have the Ziphites giving up David’s location again and causing Saul to rise up and chase after him.  Saul takes a small army, 3,000 men to David’s 600 men; a 5 to 1 outnumber.  What’s interesting this time is the response of David, he seems much calmer and is responding spiritually, understanding God’s sovereign control over his situation.

David is trusting the Lord even more than he has in the past, even to the point of enjoying himself in the face of real danger (I’ll explain later in this message).  The lesson for us here is the example David gives over the last few chapters; that we are to learn the lessons God has for us in our lives and be better believers because of it.  Our scripture reading is Matthew 25:14-30 where Jesus speaks of the responsibility of the believer to use his/her talents for Him.  What if you were given a report card on your spiritual growth; how would you be doing?  More on all this Sunday morning.

See you Sunday,

Pastor Weaver
