It All Comes Down to You!

This Sunday, we continue our series in the book of 1st Samuel, looking at the narrative/story of chapter 10.  In this text we see Saul being chosen to be the first king of Israel, and that he is given every help, including, of course, the Lord’s help, to be a successful leader and king.  But we also see he is still making poor choices…he is still not willing to trust the Lord!  Even Samuel writes up reminders of what will be, the relationship between the prophet and the king of Israel (v.25).

This Sunday, I want to show you some examples of how God gave this man, Saul, who physically looks like the perfect king (even, so announced 10:24), but who also shows us that he is really struggling spiritually and physically.  God gave him though, everything he needed to be a wise, spiritual king.  In our scripture reading, Hosea 13:4-14, we see the looking back at what Israel had done in rejecting God as their King, and how God was dealing with it.  As we said last week, God gave them what they wanted, but they paid the price for their sinful demand in the future.  What can we learn about Saul given so much what he needed to be a successful king but, became an eventual spiritual shipwreck?  What can we learn about God’s gifts to you in your life, and how He gives you all you need?  We’ll talk about it all this Sunday morning!

See you Sunday,

Pastor Weaver
