This Sunday, continuing our series in the book of 1st Samuel we now come to chapter 3. In this passage we see an interesting transition from the first verse to the last; from the word of the Lord being rare or never; to the word of the Lord continuing to appear at Shiloh to Samuel. The lesson here is God speaking (leading, directing) in young Samuel’s life. Samuel goes from being a busy young boy (last of the judges) just obediently serving, not looking for recognition or special treatment (he doesn’t even recognize God’s voice!); to being the prophet (priest) of Isreal listening to God regularly. God speaks to Samuel here in this text and tells him what He will do because of the sin of Eli’s house which Eli has tolerated. The sin of Eli’s house is what we talked about the last 2 weeks. In spite of these issues with this religious leader of Israel, Eli, – God does some great things in Samuel’s life here. What can we learn in how God worked in young Samuel? This Sunday we’ll look at some things we can learn about the Word of the Lord and Samuel: 3 of them… More on all this Sunday morning.
See you Sunday,
Pastor Weaver
