Hope Deferred in Christian Growth

This Sunday, we continue our topical series on the scripture: Proverbs 13:12 “Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.”  This “Hope Deferred” series helps us with Biblical guidance when our hopes, dreams, plans, become deferred, that is delayed for a period of time, or even forever.  This week, we will talk about “Hope Deferred in Christian Growth.”  Our text for this week is John 14:8-14.  In this passage we are told about Philip asking Christ a question about “seeing” the Father.  Christ expresses the fact of Philip’s lack of learning and teaches him once again.  Why do we have hope deferred in Christian growth?  Why is it hard at times?  Probably because its progress is super slow and we have a hard time knowing how to measure the growth.  In this message I want to give 5 things a growing Christian will realize, understand, come to grips with, and will help in their own personal growth.

Our scripture reading this Sunday is from Psalm 103:8-14.  This passage talks about the merciful way our God deals with us, not according to our sin, He does not punish us for our iniquities, because He desires to help us grow knowing that we need His help.  More on all this Sunday morning at 9:30 am.

See you Sunday,

Pastor Weaver
