The law of Adultery & Lusting, Matthew 5: 27-30

This Sunday, as we continue our series on the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew’s gospel, we will be studying chapter 5, verses 27-30.  In this passage Jesus, continues His teaching on the way to live; making points about the old commandments and what true victorious kingdom living is all about.  That we understand there is a much broader application in kingdom living!  In this text, it’s not just about “thou shalt not commit adultery,” it’s also about how you treat others by not lusting!  Don’t look to lust, don’t objectify others for your own selfish desires; and treat everyone with care, respect and dignity.  Also, Jesus says, take drastic steps to control this (vs. 29 & 30 “pluck out,” “cut off”); because of your love for God, others, AND to protect yourself from the consequences of sin.  What about you? Have you been following and fully obeying the 7th commandment?
