This Sunday we return to our verse-by-verse series on the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 6 looking at verses 19-24 in this first part of a 2-part message on these verses. This week we are talking about treasure, your treasures. You certainly have treasure, money and possessions. We most certainly cannot live in this world without money in the economy (country) where we live. Jesus addresses the issue of loving treasure more than Him. Because:
What is it that consumes your time, thoughts and your life?
What’s most important to you?
What tugs at your mind and emotions?
What consumes your time and planning?
What keeps you busy?
What do YOU treasure?
Jesus gives some interesting arguments about living for earthly treasure – it’s going to corrupt; it’s going to be stolen from you! Instead of earthly treasure, He says, layup heavenly treasure! How do we do that? Where are you laying up treasure? How do we know if we are living for earthly treasure rather than heavenly treasure? Jesus gives us 2 important principles in this text that show us why we shouldn’t layup earthly treasure. We’ll answer the above questions and much more this Sunday morning…
