This Sunday, on our communion Sunday, we continue our series in the gospel of Matthew, looking at chapter 3 verses 13-17.  In this passage we see Jesus come on the scene in His first public appearing, and His first time meeting, John the Baptist.  It’s interesting that the text makes clear that Jesus comes to John for baptism.  Why would the sinless Son of God come for baptism?  Does Jesus even need baptism?  Is Jesus identifying with us, His creation, by being baptized?  I think that’s the point of the passage – to identify with sinners.  Herein is our lesson for this message: Christ humbling Himself to identify with us. We will look at 3 ways Jesus identified with us from this passage.  

Our scripture reading is Mark 14:13-26. In this passage we see Jesus serving the very first communion at the Last Supper.  Good for us to look at as we participate in communion this Sunday morning…
