This Sunday, we continue our series in the gospel of Matthew, looking at chapter 4 verses 12-17. In this passage we see Jesus, again our example, now becoming more public in His teaching and evangelism. Jesus hears about John’s arrest and then moves on to Galilee due to several reasons which I will explain on Sunday. He moves on to people (Jews and non-Jews) that are much more likely to respond to His message. John the Baptist’s ministry is also highlighted as to his faithfulness and harvest of souls and now the ministry of he and Christ moves on to more places that will hear the message of the gospel and the Kingdom. Again, Christ is our example, and His ministry can teach us about our personal ministry that God uses in our own lives to reach others. We will look at what the passage teaches us about Jesus and His ministry to the people. Our scripture reading is John 7:40-52. In this passage we see the suspicions of Galilee from the mouths of the religious leaders. That there was no way Christ would come from there. No prophet comes from there. Yet Jesus spent a lot of time, energy and miracles ministering there.
