This Sunday is Mother’s Day, a day we honor our mother’s, so we will step away from our Samuel series to do a message for mom’s. I thought we would look at a passage where Paul the apostle recognizes the most important ministry for every mom. That text is 2 Timothy 1:5 which talks briefly about a Godly mother and grandmother. It’s Timothy’s mother, (Paul’s son in the Lord), and Timothy’s grandmother that Paul recognizes here. Paul writes this letter to Timothy from a Roman dungeon, where he is facing certain death by martyrdom. As he, during this time, was probably visited by some friend or colleague who gave him an update on Timothy, decides to write this 2nd letter to him. In this letter, Paul is pleasantly remembering blessings and blessed times that he had with Timothy and others. He is also remembering their steadfast faith which is an encouragement to him during this difficult time. This Sunday we will look at 3 important things that show in Timothy’s life that he received from his mother and grandmother.
For our scripture reading, we’ll read Proverbs 31:10-28; the classic passage on the virtuous woman, wife and mother.
