This Sunday, we continue our series in the book of 1^st Samuel, looking at chapter 9.  In this text we are introduced early, to the new king of Israel, Saul.  Now, because of the people of Israel asking, demanding for a king; it seems as though God, in His care is giving them what they want, but is still not willing to give them over completely to a human king.  This Sunday, I want to show you 3 things about this man, Saul, who physically, looks like the perfect king, but who shows us that he is really inept spiritually and physically.  An ineptness that affects even his everyday life, which we’ll see in the text.  In our scripture reading, 1 Corinthians 1:18-29, we see there the lack of wisdom in the world which I believe coincides with a lot of the problems we see in the text with Saul.  As we said last week, God gave them what they wanted, but they paid the price for their sinful demand in the future.    What can we learn about Saul’s lack of spiritual fruit in this episode of his life?  What can we learn about you having wisdom, spiritual wisdom, even physical wisdom in your life!
