This Sunday is Easter Sunday, so I thought we would do a special message on the resurrection of Jesus and the initial responses that Sunday when Jesus arose from the dead. There is a very interesting, neat episode that takes place with 2 disciples on the road from Jerusalem to Emmaus. Our text for this story is in Luke 24:13-48 where Luke gives the information about these 2 men reeling about the events of the weekend that happened in Jerusalem. On that road, Jesus “sneaks” up on them as they travel, but they don’t know that it is Him. One of the men is named in the text, “Cleopas.” I thought it would be very interesting to hear the story from his perspective. So, what we will do this Sunday is I’ll tell the whole story from his perspective, and even do it in costume as I “become” Cleopas.
For our scripture reading, we’ll read Luke 24:13-26; it’s part of the text to prepare us for Cleopas’ Story. All this and more this Sunday morning!
