This Sunday we continue our series in the first epistle of John looking now at chapter 4, verses 7-21. This will be the first of multiple parts in this understanding of love (we’ll be studying the next few weeks). Here in these verses, John wants to be sure believers understand this important topic of love. Do we really understand love? Do some people even know how to receive love? John speaks of God’s love to us here, and how it affects us. He points out that Jesus showed, demonstrated, and proved love by paying the penalty of our sin on the cross. John begins with love toward one another saying that “…love is of God,” that we know love and know God because HE loves us. I want to examine this passage Sunday morning and give 2 facts that are in the text: 1. God is love, and 2. God demonstrates love. My hope is to help you understand love better by looking at God’s perfect love and trying to understand it and meditating on it. More explanation of this Sunday morning.
See you Sunday,
Pastor Weaver
