Peace Like A River, Ruth 1: 6-18

This Sunday, we continue our series in the book of Ruth; we are now looking at chapter 1 verses 6 – 18. In this passage, our focus will be tough choices in hard times. Here tough choices are made by Naomi, Orpah and Ruth. They have (all three) already made the choice to return to Bethlehem; knowing God had visited (blest) His people in giving them food. But the plot thickens as Naomi insists that Ruth and Orpah would be better off if they returned home. True, but what should they do? A tough decision, Orpah goes home, but Ruth stays with her mother-in-law. Neither are wrong decisions, but extraordinary ones as we look at them. That’s what we will do this this Sunday, we’ll talk about making decisions in tough times.
