Innocent & Silent, Isaiah 53: 7-9 April 26, 2026 Stephen Weaver Holy Communion Isaiah 0 Comments This Sunday, we will have a Communion service completely centered around the cross of Jesus and celebrating the Lord’s supper. We will continue our communion service series working through the Suffering Servant passage from Isaiah 52 and 53. For our sermon this Sunday we’ll look at chapter 53 verses 7-9. In this passage God, who is speaking through the prophet Isaiah, tells us more about the suffering Messiah, specifically what Jesus endured for us. And that, while enduring so much; He did so totally silent and not saying or doing anything. In our scripture reading, Matthew 26:45-56, Jesus says to Peter to not fight back because He could pray to His Father and He would send 12 legions of angels! Here in our text, we have 3 hardships that Isaiah gives us in verses 7-9 to help us understand God’s love and what he truly did for us. Helping us to really understand the true magnitude of Christ’s sacrifice; the fact that He took the punishment we so much deserved. And that God punished the righteous One in our place, for our sin.
