Love Your Brothers/Sisters

This Sunday we are in our expository series in the first epistle of John; we continue in chapter 2 looking at verses 7-11.  Here in this text, John gives another evidence that shows that we are truly saved.  Because, as we said last week; we show that we are truly born again when we are obeying His commandments.  This evidence that John shows us in our text is that we love our Christian brothers and sisters.  This is not the feely easy emotional love that we show to people that are loveable.  Anyone can love those kinds of people.  What I want to address is the kind of people that are prickly, unloving people who are really a struggle to love.  Do you mean we have to love those people?  That’s what John talks about in verses 7-11.  Here is further evidence of your salvation, or what we commonly call assurances of our salvation.  You can know by how you love others.  And, by the way, you can’t do this without God’s help.  It’s why the world does not do this at all.  This love will be clear in your life and will show that you are truly born again.  More on this Sunday morning…

See you Sunday,

Pastor Weaver
