This Sunday we continue our series in the first epistle of John looking now at chapter 4, verses 1-6.  Here in these verses, John wants to be sure these believers (that he is speaking to) are careful about the teachers/preachers that could be false prophets that they are listening to.  Telling them not to believe everything they hear, but to test them to make sure they are truly speaking God’s correct words.  John says, “Here is how we know, by this we know, whether the teaching is of God or not; by whether they believe on Jesus, that He is God.  This is how we know whether there is a spirit of antichrist in them.  John mentions 3 things that we can learn: don’t believe everything you hear, know the Holy Spirit, and be encouraged you have overcome; you can do this with the Holy Spirit’s help.  More on all this Sunday morning.
