in our series on the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 6; we are now studying the last thing Jesus warns to not be doing before, in front of, or for the praise of others. This week we are going to talk about fasting, yeah fasting. Not too often do preachers, pastors talk about this topic, but Jesus addresses it here in verses 16-18. Here in the context again, Jesus assumes His listeners are fasting and giving up food for God. But what does the whole of scripture say about fasting? Should we as believers be fasting today? Why is fasting not mentioned much in the scriptures and why is it never commanded? Jesus gives us some important principles that we can learn in this text; as well as we will look candidly at the scriptures to help us understand this important topic and opportunity for worship.
