Fear and Perfect Love, 1 John 4: 15-19

This Sunday we are continuing our series in the first epistle of John looking again at chapter 4, verses 15-19.  In this message we’ll deal with our fear and love.  This is another part of this text which talks ultimately about love. Here in these verses, John wants believers not to fear because love “casts out fear.”  John continues showing how that love from God, who gives eternal life through Christ, flows through us and is reflected to others, and also keeps us from being afraid.  This Sunday we will look at the last point as we are talking about the 3 results of love that are in this text: 1. We’re given the Holy Spirit, and 2. We have confidence in the day of judgment, and 3. We have courage in the face of fear.  Courage because we have eternal life and will have NO condemnation (Romans 8:1).
