As a Believer, You Know, 1 John 5:13-15

This Sunday we are continuing our series in the first epistle of John looking at chapter 5, verses 13-15.  In this message we’ll talk about the confidence we have that comes from God and His Word, the Bible.  John here at the end of his letter gives his purpose for writing, which he did in his gospel of John as well, and also at the beginning of this letter.  He uses the term “know” in verses 13-20, more than is used in any other writing of the N.T.  He says we can have confidence that we know that we are saved (on our way to heaven), and we have confidence that God hears our prayers in this 3 verses text.  In a world where there is so little that we know for sure, John tells us in this passage what we can be sure of – heaven, and communication with our God!  What does this mean to you in your everyday life?  It’s a wonderful peace and rest in our loving, faithful God!  This Sunday we will look at those 2 things we can be sure about and why they are so important.
