This Sunday, we take a break from our series in the gospel of John and focus on the cross and celebrating the Lord’s supper. Our text for this communion service is Matthew 27:27-56 and Isaiah 53:1-12. Here in these passages, we want to get a true picture of Christ on the cross. There are many paintings, pictures of Christ on the cross throughout history, but no one ever dared to paint a clear true picture of Christ on the cross because it would be such a gruesome, horrifying scene that most would have to look away. Isaiah 53:3 says that Jesus was a “man of sorrows, or suffering.” In this message we will look at four facts about these sorrows and then ask: What’s your response? How has seeing Christ on the cross affecting you. Are you saved? Are you walking faithfully with the Lord in your life? Let’s be motivated to live for Jesus as we celebrate what He did for us this Sunday morning.
