To our sermon listeners,
This sermon I preached 3/2/25 includes a section where I attempt to make a point about the apostle John’s age as well as the baptism of Jesus, and the presence of John at the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. In talking about all this I completely confuse the difference in John the Apostle (the writer of 1 John), and John the Baptist. I wanted you to be aware of this error if you choose to listen. The message still has a lot to offer in truth as I properly exegeted the text. I do correct the error in the next message on 1 John 5:13-15, preached 3/9/25.
Humbly,
Pastor Stephen Weaver
This Sunday we continue our series in the first epistle of John looking at chapter 5, verses 6-12. In this message we’ll talk about the proofs, witnesses of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; and that He was, (and is) who He said He was, and accomplished everything He said He would accomplish! John said in verse 5 (last week) that “Jesus is the Son of God.” He now (vs. 6-12) talks about and gives proofs, witnesses, of this important truth. Who are these witnesses? And why are they important? I want to set up a courtroom scene, this Sunday morning, and let John and these witnesses talk through these important facts as to who Jesus was and what He did. I am most hopeful that this will give you a clear understanding of these rather confusing verses here in chapter 5. And then, most of all, what does this mean to you in your everyday life? This Sunday we will see the facts about Jesus and why you need to believe on Him, and to also strengthen the believer’s faith at the same time.
